Mrs. Graham's Update for the Week of 5/4/20

Dear Lower School Families,

Happy Virtual Spirit Week!  It’s been so much fun seeing all the crazy hair and outfits.  Next week in chapel we will do a drawing for those who participated and winners will receive a School Store giftcard!

I wanted to mention that I hope you’ve seen the Senior tributes on POP Social Media.  We are SO proud of our graduates and their amazing resilience in trying times. Many of this senior class have been at POPCS for 10+ years.  A recent study showed that the longer a student has been enrolled at Prince of Peace, the higher their GPAs, SAT and ACT test scores, and college acceptance rate to the college of their choice.  A Prince of Peace education is worth it! Many of the kids graduating were in my class in 4th grade.  What an absolute pleasure to watch them grow into young adults, totally prepared for whatever the future may bring!

In the next few days, you will see an invitation and information from your teacher about signing up for personal item pickup at school during the week of May 18-22. At this time, we are NOT cleared to allow families into the school building.  We are hoping that this could change, but in case it does not, please know that your teacher and teacher assistants will be gathering and organizing your student’s belongings from desks and lockers to return to you curbside during your selected time. Teachers will bring all belongings outside at this time and collect any school items you may have at home and need to return.  Please make sure to return all textbooks and library books at this time. Teachers very much look forward to spending a few moments with you and your student, even if it’s not inside the classroom. Medication pickup from the clinic will be happening at this time as well.  More than anything, we wish every teacher could have a HUGE hug with every student!  One day, we will be able to and so we look forward to that day.

Please encourage your child to join us for Chapel at 10am on Thursday, May 7th and 10 am Thursday, May 14.  Tomorrow, May 7th, we will give a shout out to May birthdays. A VERY familiar and special guest will be joining me for chapel and you will not want to miss!

I’ll leave you with a favorite: John 16:33 – “In the world you will have tribulation.  But take heart; I have overcome the world.”  YES!  What a promise!

Sincerely in Him,

Betsy Graham
