Details of Grade 8 Recognition Ceremony

Dear Grade 8 students and families,

I loved seeing many of your faces yesterday on the Zoom call!  Here is the information we reviewed for you and those who couldn’t make it!

We are excited to be approved to host our Grade 8 recognition service this Friday, May 29, at 10am. This is voluntary attendance on campus for those who feel comfortable.  Please see screening questions below. The way we were approved to allow this recognition is by implementing guidelines that align with the CDC, state and local health official recommendations. We ask that you help and support this by emphasizing with your students that they should not congregate, hug, etc while at school.  I know that is hard because it’s natural to want to get pictures with friends, but unfortunately at school we cannot allow it at this time.

Grade 8 students and families may arrive anytime from 9:30-9:45am.

Immediate family members only, please.

Enter the main gates off Midway or off International – In the Eagle East lot (close to concession stands) you will see spaced out marked parking spots. Maintaining 6ft from other families, please park and proceed to the football field, where you will be directed to a spot to set up.

To allow proper spacing of students and families, we will have the students being recognized start by sitting in marked spaces on the track or bleachers, and the football field will be marked with cones for families to safely distance themselves.  Please bring blankets, or camping type chairs to use on the field. Students will join families on the field after they are called to the stage to be recognized.

Families – please feel free to dress casually and comfortably for sitting on the football field.  Students, please dress nicely, no shorts or jeans.  Ladies, no tube tops please, and remember you will be walking on bleachers and a small stage, so please dress appropriately in both clothing and shoes.  We definitely want to avoid anyone tripping on bleachers or stage. Gentlemen, you are welcome to wear a tie but not required.  Otherwise, dress uniform pants or other dress slacks with a collared shirt would be appropriate.

During the ceremony, we will pass out some awards, and Mr. Hahn and I will say a few words, then begin the recognition.  In alphabetical order, we’ll call the names of the students. They will come down from their spots and walk across a small makeshift stage, picking up their certificate along the way.  We will not shake hands at this time.  Parents, you may come closer for a picture but try to keep 6ft from the others in line.  After crossing the stage, the students will pass a small receiving line of spaced out well wishers, pick up a few gifts we have for them, then join their families on the field.  We will close in prayer and then dismiss in rows.

Please wait for your yard line to be called before exiting.  Please exit to your vehicles, keeping the recommended 6ft of space as you do.

Please review the following screening questions and agree for each family member should you choose to come on campus:

We are PROUD of these kiddos, their resilience, determination, and strength in the face of adversity!  Looking forward to celebrating them in a small way on Friday. Also, for those unable to make it, the ceremony will be recorded.  If you don’t plan on attending or are unable to, please let me know and I will save the certificate and gifts for your students to deliver at another time.

Thank you all, please reach out with any questions!
