Mrs. Porter's Update for the Week of 4/6/20

Dear Preschool and KPrep families,

Please know that every day away from the campus makes us all long for the time when we can be together again. As we prepare for Easter we wanted to share a simple project that we hope will continue to connect our school family. Please follow the ELC & PS Distance Learning Facebook group. There should be a special message appear this coming week. This is also another place for you to share your sweet pictures and share moments of your day. And you do not know how MUCH it means to your teaching team to see your pictures and messages, it blesses us!

We know this is NOT easy for any of you. Yesterday’s devotion in JESUS CALLING had scripture from 2 Thessalonians 3:16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all. The devotion talked about trials that come into your life. But when we trust in God in the middle of all the trials, Peace can flourish. It’s hard to look for His Peace and to feel it when you have your work, your preschooler hanging out with you , and life as we know it has been blown up. Please know that we are walking and praying with you each and every day. One of the things that we are working on as a teaching team is a way to provide you with MORE. Not necessarily more work, but an opportunity for you to allow your child to spend 20-30 minutes in front of a screen with our team singing, reading and playing. We know school looks different and preschool is not the same as Lower School but we feel this additional time can be a blessing to your family. So at our Zoom staff meeting today we talked about adjustments we could make. You may not see it all next week, but we are planning for the future.

Next week we will share the Easter story and message with you and your family. We will not meet or communicate on Good Friday but plan to be back in action on Monday, April 13. This is traditionally called Easter Monday at POPCS and we normally do not meet, but we will this year. Easter is a time for new beginnings and this Easter we have so much to celebrate. As a school we are asking for your help. If you have time to cut out and decorate a butterfly, be it small or large, and for those of you that picked up your wings, decorate those. Please know anything goes (see attached pictures). Please take a picture of your child and their butterfly, and send to Stacey.pace@popcs.org by next Thursday, April 9. Ms. Pace will compile all photos and make a butterfly movie that we will share with you on that Monday, April 13 along with a sweet chapel message celebrating the risen King!

Your teachers are busy working on learning opportunities for your child and simple ways to connect so the children have something familiar every day from “school” to look forward to. You are all a blessing to us and we look forward to hearing from you! May He continue to bring you Peace.

Blessings- Brenda
