Mrs. Porter's Update for the Week of 5/4/20
Dear POPCS Families,
As we wind down our most unusual 2019-2020 school year there is still so much we do not know. Thank you for your participation in our Child Care Survey. We do not know exactly what summer will look like here at POPCS but we desire to serve you as best as possible.
There are so many questions we all want answered but we know answers are not that easy. Here is what we do know…
We know you want and need care as soon as possible. The survey results also supported that if we had to open with a shorter day, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., you would still come. The POPCS ELC and Zone teams are preparing for summer. We are waiting for answers in regards to state guidelines and for Governor Abbott to open day care for non-essential workers. As a team we are working on opening our doors and welcoming families back to our campus as soon as safely possible. We are evaluating different starting dates, the earliest being June 1, but it could be June 15 or later, all depending on the expectations and state and local permission. Our target date is June 1 but remember, this is not all our call, we cannot promise this date to you until we are given permission and able to meet guidelines.
As many of you know I will also be leaving POPCS and moving to Arkansas at the end of this month. POPCS is blessed with a great team in place. I am proud to announce that Ms. Keesha Koehler current Preschool Prep lead teacher will continue to teach in addition to become the ELC Coordinator and Licensed Site Director. Ms. Koehler will work closely with the Infant and Toddler lead teachers and together they will continue to love and care for your families.
Summer Care, Holiday Care, Before and After School Care is the Zone program for school age children preschool threes through fifth grade. I am happy to share that Mrs. Shantell Jarvis, current Kindergarten teacher will be taking over Zone leadership as well as continuing to teach. Mrs. Jarvis’ has been actively involved with the Zone team for several years and will now be guiding this program.
You are being left in excellent hands. The teams in place will not be new faces but the same familiar faces you have seen during the school year. We are excited thinking about the possibilities of your child’s return. And above all, we are thankful that we will be able to continue partnering with your families in the future. We serve a big God and He can do amazing things. I want to thank you for allowing me to be part of your family and serving with you in the care of your children.
We will share more information in the days to come as guidelines are shared with us. Above all, we want you to know we have plans in place and we are hoping and praying that we will be able to see you on campus soon.
Blessings to you and yours,
Brenda Porter and the ELC and Zone Teams!
