Mrs. Porter's Update for the Week of 5/18/20
Dear POPCS Families,
Mr. Rogers, Fred Rogers, is someone that I have looked up to during my teaching career. A favorite quote is the following:
“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say “It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.” Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.”
We have seen a great many heroes in the past few months. At POPCS, I believe that our teachers have tried their best to show their care and concern through continued connection with your children. These teachers have become heroes in my eyes as well. They truly care for our school family. As I exit this calling at POPCS and move to Arkansas, I want to assure you that these heroes will continue going above and beyond for your children and families.
Just to share one more time, Ms. Keesha Koehler, currently a Preschool Prep lead teacher, will continue to teach in addition to becoming the ELC Coordinator Licensed Site Director. Ms. Koehler will work closely with the Infant and Toddler lead teachers and together they will continue to love and care for your families.
Mrs. Shantell Jarvis, current Kindergarten teacher, will be taking over Zone leadership, as well as continuing to teach. Mrs. Jarvis has been actively involved with the Zone team for several years and will now be guiding this program.
You are being left in excellent hands and leading these changes in the ELC, PS, Zone, and supporting your families will be our Headmaster, Mr. Chris Hahn. Mr. Hahn has always followed in the Fred Rogers model of: my children, my community, my world, and my problem! He sees a need and he responds. He has been my teammate and leader since I began in ministry at POPCS. You could not be left in better hands than in Mr. Hahn’s.
Mr. Hahn will be working with the preschool team to finalize and designate a department head that will be announced at a later date. The Department Head will work closely with Mr. Hahn in caring for your children, your family, and the teachers.
We are excited thinking about the possibilities of your child’s return. And above all, we are thankful that we will be able to continue partnering with your families in the future. We serve a big God and He can do amazing things.
Again, I thank you for allowing me to be part of your family and serving with you in the care of your children.
Blessings to you and yours,
Early Childhood Director
